Our ambitious 10-year roadmap to build a sustainable ICT education organisation for Tanzanian youth.

Launched FY 2021 / 2022

In the Financial Year of 2021/2022, we launched "ICT FOR ALL" — an ambitious 10-year project aimed at building a sustainable organisation robust enough to keep investing in free ICT education for Tanzanian youth.

"ICT FOR ALL" is designed as a rolling project with a planning cycle that we regularly review and update. This allows us flexibility and responsiveness to changing circumstances in our overall operations.

Clearing the Ground:
Establishing the Foundation

Phase I — Establishing the Foundation

The critical first phase of the project was to establish a structured learning environment. In April 2022, through the generous support of family and friends, we successfully built and equipped a dedicated computer lab.

  • Dedicated Computer Lab — Built & Equipped

    A purpose-built computer lab that doubles as a classroom, now accommodating 40 students. Completed April 2022.

Increasing Capacity:
Core Infrastructure

Phase II — Investing in Core Infrastructure

With the foundation in place, Phase II focused on building the critical infrastructure needed for sustainable, high-quality ICT education.

  • ICT Equipment

    To address Arusha's severe digital gap — where 43 students share a single device — we purchased additional computers for our ICT lab. In 2024, Backblaze donated computers, significantly lowering our student-to-device ratio and improving student learning outcomes.

  • TTCL Internet Connection

    Reliable, high-speed internet is not a luxury — it is foundational to quality ICT education. We secured a robust TTCL broadband connection to ensure students have uninterrupted access to online resources, curriculum modules, and digital tools. This upgrade significantly reduced connectivity barriers and raised the standard of learning across every cohort.

  • Solar Power System

    Tanzania's power rationing crisis of September 2023 threatened our operations. In 2025, Powering Potential (Potential Enhancement Foundation) installed a solar power system capable of powering 10 computers for a full class day without interruption. We are continuing to expand solar capacity to power all equipment in the lab, enhance our energy resilience, and reduce our carbon footprint — making BRF's operations both more sustainable and more environmentally responsible.

  • Sanitation Improvement Project

    We upgraded the water and sewerage connection and built modern, well-functioning bathrooms for students and BRF personnel, ensuring a safe and hygienic learning environment.

Future Growth:
Scaling Operations

Phase III — Scaling Our Operations

Looking ahead, we plan to grow BRF's community impact significantly. Phase III will expand our physical capacity and extend our reach to the wider Sinoni community.

  • Second Fully-Equipped Computer Lab

    To accommodate the growing demand from students, we plan to build a second fully-equipped computer lab.

  • Community Open Lab

    We plan to set up a separate community open lab to function as an accessible digital empowerment hub for the wider community in Sinoni, Arusha.
