The Benjamin Runga Foundation was established as a heartfelt tribute to our dear brother, Benjamin Nelson Runga. Fondly known as Benja, he possessed an unwavering passion for teaching and nurturing the love for learning in others. His remarkable influence has ignited the aspirations of countless friends and fellow students, propelling them toward careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

As Benja’s younger brother, he has been the guiding light that led me on a remarkable journey to becoming a Software Engineer. I vividly recall a transformative moment from my childhood when Benja returned home one Saturday afternoon, brimming with excitement about a marvelous machine called a computer. Curious, I asked him to explain what it was, and he replied, “It’s a machine capable of solving any problem.” In my youthful innocence, I envisioned a world where this extraordinary device could help me conquer all my challenges – from obtaining more toys to curing diseases. While I now recognize the complexity of computers and their capabilities, that initial curiosity ignited a lifelong pursuit of understanding.

Today, at the Benjamin Runga Foundation, we strive to offer free ICT education to the youth of Tanzania, empowering them with the knowledge that enables them to become problem solvers in their own right. We envision a future where countless young individuals throughout our nation benefit from having a guiding presence like Benja in their lives.
